    The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for full time probationary appointment at the rank of Instructor I, commencing January 1, 2024, or on a mutually agreed upon date. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development.  Exceptional candidates at all levels will also be considered. Outstanding candidates in any area of Biological Sciences will be considered, with particular emphasis on candidates who will complement or extend the department’s strengths in laboratory and lecture development using creative and active pedagogical methods. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience in large multi-sectional introductory biology courses. The candidate will have a Ph.D. (preferred) or M.Sc. or other distinguishing attributes in biological sciences. Duties will include undergraduate teaching in live-lecture and/or on-line or distance formats; pedagogical development and student assessment; coordination of large multi-sectional first year laboratories; scheduling, training and supervision of teaching assistants and technicians; and service-related activities. The successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding teaching contributions; a commitment to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in the classroom and course development, and will exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

    The Department currently has 31 full-time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 10 Instructors. The Department offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs in Biological Sciences.
