WHAT IS oCUBE?

The Open Consortium of Undergraduate Biology Educators (oCUBE) is a non-profit community of practice advancing the quality of undergraduate biology education at universities and colleges. We began in 2009 with a core group of seven people interested in sharing and promoting best practices with others who are passionate about teaching. We have now grown to include members from all across Canada, parts of the U.S., and Europe.

What's with the bees? The link between oCUBE and bees dates back to the very beginning of our community of practice. The idea is that it is the collective nature of bees to bring success to the hive, rather than individual success. Such is the nature of oCUBE; we are a collaborative community that is best when working and developing together, sharing resources, expertise, ideas, and support.

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.
